I was asked to photograph Lindsey and Kyle’s wedding, I was thrilled to be able to play a special part in their big day. I had not seen Kyle in years, and it was hard to believe that the little boy who used to sit in front of us in church was now a grown man getting married. On the day of their engagement session in Manassas Battlefield Virginia, I had the pleasure of meeting the beautiful bride, Lindsey.
Lindsey told me that Kyle had proposed to her with his mother’s engagement ring, a beautiful Tiffany setting in yellow gold. It was such a sweet moment that perfectly captured the love and connection that this family shares!
Kyle and Lindsey decided to have an intimate ceremony at their local church, followed by a reception at the Osprey at Belmont Bay. But what was unique about their wedding was that they chose to have it on a Monday, a weekday wedding, which I’m seeing more and more often with my couples.
As a close friend of the family, I decided to go above and beyond what they had asked for. I stopped at a local flower shop and picked up a dozen pink roses. My daughter, who happened to be my assistant at the wedding, helped me to tear apart the roses and put them into a bag. After the formal family photos, my daughter handed out the roses to the wedding guests, and we were able to capture a beautiful pink rose toss, a classic kiss scene surrounded by their closest family and friends.
The wedding was not only beautiful, but also heartwarming and unique. It was clear from the start that this family values tradition and connection. It was an honor to be able to document this special day for them.
